Skin Care Routine for Oily Skin

One of the first things to learn is the right skin care routine for oily skin. To avoid drying out your skin, so you should stay away from harsh chemicals and cleansers.

Those cleansers with exfoliating beads can be bad, too.  A gentle cleaner is all you need to wash away makeup and oil that has built up throughout the day.

If you use other products with harsh chemicals, you run the risk of irritating your skin or drying it completely out, as they contain ingredients that can cause excessive drying or inflammation.

If you want better skin, drop the fat-free diet. Believe it or not, for a good skin care routine for oily skin - eating fats can actually benefit. Try adding a little more fat to your diet. Stick to healthy, unsaturated fats. Foods like olive oil, almonds and fatty fish all contain unsaturated fats that will reduce dry, itchy skin.

The most important thing to keep in mind, in regards to oily skin, is to keep it clean, but at the same time don't wash too frequently. Over-washing can actually cause the skin to produce more oil, making skin worse in the long run.

Water temperature is also crucial when cleansing your skin. If the water is too hot, it can pull moisture out of your skin, while cold water can shock the skin. Many dermatologists recommend bathing in tepid water for optimal skin care.


While you might already know that your old makeup and applicators can damage your skin, you might not know that your makeup case can as well. Pay attention to what your makeup is stored it. If it is washable, wash it in warm water. If it is not, consider buying a new one when it gets dirty.

 
 
When caring for your skin, don't forget about the areas immediately around the eyes. These areas require special moisturizing treatments, since this skin does not produce its own oil like the rest of your face. A nightly treatment with an eye area cream can keep unsightly wrinkles from forming around the eyes.

A great way to maintain healthy radiant skin is to make sure you're getting enough sleep and maintaining a healthy diet. In order for your body to function properly, it needs a certain amount of sleep and nutrients. If it doesn't get this, the body doesn't work at its best, resulting in poor health and bad skin.

While regular bar soaps can work very well on your body, try to avoid using them when washing your face. Bar soaps can irritate and dry out the sensitive skin there. Instead use facial soaps that are meant for such use. This will leave your skin better moisturized and clearer.

In order to maintain healthy skin, be sure to use lotion after showering when needed.  This will ensure that you have moist, healthy skin.  When choosing your moisturizer, be sure to choose one that will not clog your skin's pores.  Keeping healthy, moisturized skin is key to looking young and feeling good. 


You should apply a moisturizer to your skin after washing and toning.  Moisturizers are lotions that lessen wrinkles, soften skin, and reduce dryness.  Different skin types require different moisturizers.  A person with oily skin should use a gel based moisturizer.  A person with drier skin should use a cream or lotion based moisturizer.
